PLD Space flew Miura 1 from El Arenosillo in October 2023, the first launch of a privately developed European rocket. In August 2026 ESA picked it for a European Launcher Challenge contract covering Miura 5 flights through 2030. Alen Space builds small satellites and has been majority-owned by GMV since 2023.

Two Spanish companies have shut down. Zero 2 Infinity, which planned to launch rockets from balloons, entered insolvency in May 2026. Its only flight test was in 2017. Asgard Space, which worked on tracking objects in orbit, went through voluntary insolvency in Barcelona in 2021.
