Altius Space

Altius Space Machines built the hardware that makes satellites graspable. Its DogTag is a small universal grapple fixture, a standard handle that a servicing or debris-removal spacecraft can grab, and OneWeb put them on its constellation, with hundreds launched from 2021. MagTag added an electropermanent-magnet interface for attachment and servicing, and the company contributed to robotic servicing arms developed with Maxar for US defense work.

Its bet inverted the usual servicing pitch. Servicing vehicles are expensive and speculative, while the fixture is cheap, and if every satellite carries one, the servicing market gains a place to stand. Selling the handle to everyone beat betting on any one servicer.

Voyager, now Voyager Technologies, made Altius its first acquisition, announced in 2019 and closed in early 2020, and for a while the DogTag count grew under the new owner. Then the trail thins. There has been essentially no Altius-branded news since 2022, the planned Bulldog servicing vehicle quietly left the website, and from outside it is hard to say how much survives as a product line rather than as engineering capability inside a parent that has kept buying companies.
