Mission
Automated geospatial monitoring built on computer vision and machine learning for faster, less costly interventions.
Earthcube was founded in Paris in 2016 by Arnaud Guerin and Renaud Allioux to do with algorithms what defense imagery analysts do by eye: find the aircraft, ships, vehicles and site activity in satellite pictures. The software watched military sites across imagery, video and other sensor feeds and flagged what changed, and it was sold to defense and intelligence agencies.
The bet had two parts. Defense imagery volumes grow faster than any agency can hire analysts, and a sovereign European product would win European agencies that hesitate to depend on American tools. The French armed forces ministry's investment fund backed it, and in 2020 the company renamed itself Preligens.
Safran bought the company in September 2024 and folded it into its electronics and defense division as Safran.AI. The technology carries on there; the Preligens name does not. As an independent company it depended on a small circle of government buyers, and its story ended in a sale rather than a standalone business.
