Mission

Modular electric propulsion giving small satellites agile maneuverability.

GO-2 is an electric thruster that runs on solid gallium. The metal is melted once in orbit, and forty independent emission sites, each with its own tiny propellant tank, spray ions under electrostatic fields, a technique called field emission propulsion. Thrust is measured in micronewtons, which sounds like nothing and is the point: it is precision station-keeping and collision avoidance for small satellites, from a one-litre module with no pressure vessel and no moving parts.

Daniel Bock and Istvan Lorincz founded the company in Dresden in 2018 after seven years of university research, and their heritage thruster made history early, igniting aboard the UWE-4 university CubeSat in 2019 as the smallest ion engine ever operated in orbit. The commercial bet is that constellation operators want propulsion as a safe commodity part, bought like a reaction wheel, and the Dresden line is being tooled toward a hundred units a year.

GO-2 itself flew in 2025 aboard a D-Orbit carrier craft and, by the company's account, worked: all forty sites came to temperature, the thruster ignited, and sustained ion emission matched ground data. What has not appeared since is a customer. After roughly $43 million raised and a flight-proven product, no operator, government or manufacturer has been publicly named as buying GO-2, Kevin Lausten, a Maxar veteran, now runs the company with founder Daniel Bock as its technology chief, and the thrust and efficiency figures stay behind a datasheet request. It also competes in exactly the niche where Austria's Enpulsion has already flown hundreds of thrusters of the same family.
