SpaceHabs Studios

SpaceHabs Studios is building Ares Inception, a Mars mission simulator played from mission control. The player recruits, trains and manages a crew through missions where morale, injury and relationships weigh as much as the engineering, and the game is designed to spill off the screen: a PC strategy game first, with 3D-printed tabletop terrain and VR planned around the same missions. A steering committee the studio says includes veterans of Canadian Space Agency and NASA crewed and Mars work advises on the science. The Steam release is targeted for late 2027.

The studio belongs to Bryan Versteeg. He spent over twenty years in architectural visualization and the last fifteen as the space industry's best-known concept artist: his spacehabs.com renders of habitats, asteroid mines and settlements did the imagining for ventures across the field, from the asteroid-mining wave of the 2010s to Mars settlement projects. The bet inside Ares Inception is that simulation is where those pictures have to grow up, because a habitat in a mission simulator has to actually keep its crew alive.

What can be verified is early and thin. Spacehabs Studios Inc. was incorporated in Calgary in August 2025, sits in Alberta's corporate registry as active, and is the registered developer and publisher on Steam. The rest, the team and the funding, is not yet on the record; the advisor roster is the studio's own claim.
