Mission
Builds high-powered rockets, engines and space systems for economical smallsat launch, plus student research platforms.
STAR, short for Space Technology and Aeronautical Rocketry, teaches rocketry in Surat, India. Sunny Kabrawala founded it in 2015 out of a model rocket club, incorporated as Avkashyaan Private Limited, and it runs workshops and student programs, claiming thousands of students reached, with ambitions beyond education: a suborbital research platform and eventually a small satellite launcher, sketched on its site under the names KALAM and KALPANA.
The bet is that an education outfit can bootstrap itself into one of India's private launch companies as the country opens spaceflight to private industry.
The evidence so far sits entirely at the education end. There are no engines, test flights, funding rounds or regulatory filings on the public record, no press coverage in years, and the vehicle pages carry no dates. The website stays up and the ambition is stated; everything between here and a launch pad remains to be shown.
