The companies here work on power from different ends. Arinna and Solestial make ultrathin solar cells, and Beyond Reach Labs builds fold-flat arrays of up to 625 square metres for high-power satellites. ORiS is testing laser power beaming between satellites. Reflect Orbital wants to reflect sunlight onto solar farms after dark.
In July 2026 the FCC approved Eärendil-1, Reflect Orbital's first reflector demonstration satellite. The same month ORiS beamed power to a drone more than 100 metres away with its LOONA prototype. York Space Systems bought Solestial in June 2026.
Aetherflux started out to beam solar power from orbit to the ground. In March 2026 it was reported to be moving toward orbital data centres instead, and it now operates as Cowboy Space. Maana Electric is developing ways to make solar panels from local raw materials, on Earth and in space.
