Mission
Baiju Bhatt's company, founded to beam solar power from orbit and now, as Cowboy Space, building solar-powered GPU data centres in low orbit from San Carlos and Seattle.
Cowboy Space builds satellites that turn sunlight into computing. The company started in 2024 as Aetherflux, Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt's plan to collect solar power in low orbit and beam it to the ground with lasers. By March 2026 Bhatt said the company had concluded a year earlier that powering AI meant putting the chips in orbit beside the solar panels rather than sending the power down, and it shifted toward space data centres. The first such satellite is planned for 2027.
The company had raised about $80 million by then, and TechCrunch reported it was raising $250 million to $350 million more at a $2 billion valuation, led by Index Ventures. Later in 2026 it renamed itself Cowboy Space Corporation. The Aetherflux domain now lands on the new site, which describes a space-based power grid of solar-powered GPU data centres in low orbit. Its offices are in San Carlos, California, and Seattle.
Nothing of Cowboy Space's is in orbit. The first data-centre satellite is a 2027 target, and the site's own small print says its capabilities and timelines are design goals rather than demonstrated results.
